Shane

Shane Lewis
, Unit Coordinator
Shane holds a bachelor of science in astronomy from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in applied geography in geographic information science from Texas State University. Since 2007, he has served as project manager for Quest, with primary responsibility for the software development team. He has developed software for the College of Natural Sciences since 1995. Prior to his tireless efforts, students were frequently compelled to stand in long lines for various reasons. Proud recipient of the 2003 MexicoNorte Transnationalism Fellowship, he spent much of that year in the Sierra Madre Oriental documenting ecotourism opportunities. In the private sector, Shane managed artificial intelligence and data warehousing projects with applications ranging from Brazilian weather forecasting to machine-driven document classification. In the late 1990's, he worked with the producers of Cosmos, managing an educational software effort to document the unmanned space program. In rare moments away from the computer, Shane can be found coaching youth soccer or playing jazz and blues trumpet in local nightclubs.
